NEW BUSINESS
Organic and Conventional farms (5 Minutes) - Colehour
8 out of 134 KCFA farms are organic farms. Karen commented that an educational article for newsletter would be good. Sandra urges newsletter information also. At the Made in Hawaii Festival several errors were made in pricing. Organic was left out as separate price. However, better event planning is needed for next year if KCFA attends.
Bruce suggests an organic committee under KCFA to look at organic farm issues. Suzanne supports the committee and asked Colehour to head up committee. Colehour makes motion and Bruce seconds to have committee. Motion passed

Committee Reports
Treasurer’s Report
This will be an abbreviated financial report as I am in Darwin, Australia, and have little access to the internet.
Bottom line: we're doing OK, even though we had a slight net loss for the month. The Made in Hawaii event wound up making the KCFA $158 net after we paid all the wonderful farms that participated and our expenses. Other expenses during the month put us into the red.
Legislative Committee Report
County Council District 7 candidates Rebecca Villegas and Kelly Drysdale responded to KCFA’s candidate questionnaire—both stating strong support for 51% minimum for blends, applying the coffee labeling laws to ready-to-drink coffee products, and Neighbor Island video conferencing for legislative committee hearing testimony. On October 7 an email was sent to members with a link to the questionnaire and the candidates' full responses.
Education
On September 28, KCFA cohosted the annual moisture meeting calibration workshop with CTAHR.

Harvest Fiesta Committee Report October 14,2018
It is a busy time of year and I was having computer problems. I also just found out that I am scheduled for surgery October 19th in Honolulu. At this time, the recovery time is about one week so I am hoping it will not be a huge impact on this event but any help will be greatly appreciated.
I have obtained the the permit for for Honaunua Pavilion and Kitchen. I will obtain the alcoholic beverage permit this week. This has to applied for at the police station in Koloko by myself as I am on the rental agreement.
Cea and I were able to chat after last meeting and came up with a draft of the schedule,
shopping list, games and music, Cea sent an email to all Board Members asking for their help in several tasks. If changes need to be made, please speak up so adjustments can be made. To have a great and fun event for our membership I ask that all of us chip in.
