Linda Lingle……YES

Hirono:
Video conferencing saves both time and money. If elected to the US Senate, I will advocate for the increased use of technology to bring cost savings and transparency to the federal government. In fact, part of my bipartisan VISIT USA Act to increase tourism here in Hawaii would introduce a pilot program in China that will permit visa interviews by video-conferencing.
Lingle:
I sympathize with neighbor island testifiers and agree that use of modern technology makes sense to increase the opportunities of citizens statewide to participate in the legislative process. The importance of hearing from the diverse perspectives of ourresidents on the neighbor islands is why I have pledged to set up Neighbor Island Advisory Committees if elected as U.S. Senator so that all state residents can ensure their opinions are heard. This would be similar to the Neighbor Island Advisory Committees I established as Governor. I would encourage the leadership in the State Legislature to set up video-conferencing for legislative hearings.
