The Kona Coffee Farmers Association is hosting its annual Symposium for all coffee growers and agribusinesses on February 25th at the Outrigger Keauhou Resort. It will be full day of coffee-related speakers, information and networking on the issues facing Hawaii farms. It’s an event not to be missed. Register here.
The Keynote speaker will be Mayor Kimo Alameda, updating us on his goals for the County. There will also be speakers on the effects of climate on coffee, and how to adapt farms for the coming changes. The latest protocols for managing coffee leaf rust will be presented as well as an update on global market conditions and opportunities to grow sales. Hear the latest updates on grants for composting, tree health and more.
Also, trade show vendors will be on site to discuss marketing programs available through the Hawaii Department of Agriculture, farm equipment, coffee quality, soil health, fertilizer use, agricultural loans, crop insurance, and a range of USDA programs. A free roasting workshop will be held the next day, for growers who wish to learn how to take their coffee all the way to cup.
For Members, our Annual General Meeting will be held during the event, with an update on KCFA activities and an election of new board members.
Registration is required: Free to members, and only $75 including lunch for non-members and guests. 100% Kona coffee will be served. The event will run from 9 am to 4pm, with sign-in and coffee beginning at 8am.
