Aloha all,
Here is an alert (click to open>>>) Coffee Leaf Rust Alert 11.10.20 concerning the confirmed identification of coffee leaf rust (CLR) on Hawaii Island. In summary, a sample of a rust fungus collected by a grower on a farm in the Holualoa area, Hawai`i Island, has been confirmed by the United States Department of Agriculture National Identification Services as coffee leaf rust (CLR). This is the first confirmed detection on that island.
Please note that two samples sent at the same time from Hilo were determined to be negative for CLR, so the only current confirmed positive sample from Hawaii Island is from the Holualoa area.
Please distribute this alert to your association members and other contacts in the coffee industry.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Mahalo,
Kevin
