The KCFA is a non-profit, all volunteerĀ organization of over 300 members,
with only active Kona Coffee farmers having the ability to vote.
Our annual Fundraiser allows us to continue our important work.
What do we do?
- During the course of a year, proceeds from our annual fundraiser allow us to offer a Small Farmer Expo with free admission to all and in 2013 we had over 70 vendor resources ranging from USDA information, to coffee label artwork and everything in between.
- We conduct our monthly Coffee Talk educational meetings with up to date scientific information in conjunction with the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center speakers.
- The KCFA maintains an up to date website for its members with the latest information on various subjects including the important Coffee Berry Borer (CBB) Forum discussions with input from farmers and the scientific community.
- The KCFA publishes an exemplary monthly newsletter, āThe Independent Voiceā which is sent to our members, to our Hawaii State Legislators as well as to the Hawaii County Council and our Mayor. āThe Independent Voiceā contains up to date information about the latest efforts in Kona Coffee farming as well as newsworthy mentions of Kona Coffee.
- We feel that the KCFA is the main voice of the Kona Coffee Farmer and we take this mission seriously. We send qualified representatives to Oahu when needed in order to testify, to best support Kona Coffee farming issues. This is an ongoing effort, as you well know.
For all these reasons and more, we need your support. Ā The CBB devastation is at a critical stage and may decimate Kona Coffee farming as we’ve known it. We need to remain in the forefront.
